FOUND - dried beans...
« on: March 11, 2011, 06:00:18 PM »
Yes!  Dried...

pinto beans & black beans TOO...

at my little neighbourhood Morrisons...so can only assume they must be more widely available now throughout the UK.  ;D

(I used to have to buy them, the dried ones, at a health food shop in city centre.)

That said, Morrisons that giveth also taketh away at times.  (the chipotle flakes jar comes to mind)  :\\\'(

I can get dried black beans at Tesco. (as well as tinned black beans, organic and inorganic) They're all in the back by the health foods.
Let them eat cupcakes!

Officially Britishly since August 2013

I've not had a problem finding them. It might be a regional thing.   Lots are available in the Asian food section, but even more are usually with the rice and dried veg. However, if people can get Ocado deliveries, they have all sorts of beans, including mixed, black (called turtle beans by Waitrose).

Oh I've been able to find them in one place or another for most of the time I've been here.  ;)

It's just that every now & again, the cry goes up on the forum that pinto beans (or black beans) aren't available here.

And I'm just saying if they've made it to our little Morrisons, then the beans have arrived!

Waitrose has a truly wonderful selection of dried beans. They are part of their essentials line.

They're in all the supermarkets around here too. I have more trouble finding tinned black beans, and have only ever seen them at Sainsbury's (we don't have a Waitrose, so they may be there too).

My Tesco has tinned black beans, but only organic in the healthy section.  :)
