No more direct flights from Manchester to JFK....

How unreal is that? They are claiming that there isn't the demand that there used to be, however every.single.time I fly any flight to JFK its JAM PACKED with shoppers.

Needless to say, this might stop my parents from coming to visit so often.

I agree. Super annoying.  I read on the BBC that the airport is "confident" that this is just for the "slower" winter season, and that there will be more direct flights from Manchester in the summer, but we'll see.

Continental does direct Newark to Manchester...I realise Newark might not be as convenient, but it I would think it would be a better option than London.

I see...I can't really complain because I hate JFK and go out of my way to NOT have to fly from there so I don't keep up with these things too much.  I just noticed it was one of the flight paths when I checked on tickets yesterday.

Well the beauty for me is that my parents live about 13 miles from JFK and I live about 4 miles from Manchester airport...I can get door to door in just 8 hours...but no more!

I wish there were a direct flight from Newcastle to Texas. *sigh*

I'm with you there, Jewlz- I'd love to have a direct flight from Manchester to Houston, but sadly that's never going to happen!
