Ok....maybe it'll be UK to US??
« on: October 05, 2009, 03:36:20 AM »
Alright, so Andy called tonight, and told me he'd found a job listing in Nashville that he's qualified for, and is considering applying for. So much so that he'd already checked the mileage from Chicago and the cost of plane tickets back and forth. *stunned*

It's not that I wouldn't jump at the chance to live with him stateside...I just really must have underestimated the effect the States had on him while he was here. Or was it just me?  ;)

At any rate, now my quest leads me to research what's required for a UKC to come to the states to work, should he apply and actually get the job. This is all hypothetical, as we're still in the "options" stage...but I figured *someone* on here would know, since a UK Yankee could also technically be a Brit in the States (though I know it's meant to be the other way round).

Has anyone found out anything about UKCs working in the states? He works in the IT field, though I'm not sure what the job he's thinking about entails...(I was so excited when he mentioned it, I forgot my usual tendancy to gently pry, lol) I've been to the USCIS site, and it's a madhouse of information, most of which I have a suspicion doesn't apply to us in the least. Any info?

www.britishexpats.com has a great forum on the various visas available for UK citizens coming to work in the US.  Are you guys married?  Planning to get married?  You can do a fiance visa as well so that his visa doesn't have to be tied to that job.

Good luck!
