UGH! Getting married!
« on: September 25, 2009, 12:47:21 PM »
After 8 yrs, a long distance relationship, an international move and a kid later my partner and I have decided to make it all legal- YAY!  Only thing is, I HATE wedding planning and don't have a clue.  Anyone know of a venue in the Lake or Peak districts that would be good for a smallish (35A/23ch) wedding??

We stayed in a beautiful hotel in Keswick: the Lodore Falls Hotel: http://www.lakedistricthotels.net/weddings/index.htm.  It was gorgeous; the food was good, and there were two weddings over the four days we were there! Everyone seemed to be having a great time. We got a deal on the rooms, so it wasn't even that expensive.
Congrats! I HATED wedding planning. I spent a lot of time on "indiebrides" which is a website for women who...won't end up with a normal wedding or just don't want to deal with the stress of a mega event.  You might want to check it out.

I don't have anything helpful to add, as I am still in the States. I just wanted to say congratulations & I can empathize with you on the wedding planning. I'm currently planning my November wedding here in the States. I keep suggesting that we just call the whole thing off & sneak away to the courthouse. LOL Best of luck!

thanks guys! I may have found the perfect place - friends of ours own a pub in Oxford and we're hoping we can hire it for a day.  keeping fingers crossed!
