Travelling to Europe on an FLR(M)?
« on: October 16, 2009, 02:21:46 PM »
Hi, I recently married my American husband in Cumbria. We've sent off the application for his FLR(M) which we hope to receive back soon.

My parents want to take us for a short break to Prague just before Christmas and I can't find any information about whether we need any extra documentation for Jon to travel. He has his US passport and will have his identity card once the FLR(M) has come through.

If anyone knows we'd appreciate your help...

Cheers

Carly

No extra documentation needed... he will just need his passport and ID card to travel :).

ETA: FLR(M) applications have been taking up to 14 weeks to be processed recently, so depending on how long ago you sent off the application, if he doesn't receive his passport and ID card by the time the trip comes around, he won't be able to travel.

Nope. :) Unless a country requires a visa for US nationals, which this one does not, you don't need any additional documentation.
And if you threw a party
Invited everyone you knew
You would see the biggest gift would be from me
And the card attached would say
"Thank you for being a friend!"

From the US State Department:
Quote
ENTRY/EXIT REQUIREMENTS:  The Czech Republic is a party to the Schengen Agreement. As such, U.S. citizens may enter the Czech Republic for up to 90 days for tourist or business purposes without a visa. The passport should be valid for at least three months beyond the periods of stay. For further details on travel into and within Schengen counties, please see our Schengen Fact Sheet. All foreigners seeking entry in the Czech Republic must carry proof of a medical insurance policy contracted for payment of all costs for hospitalization and medical treatment in the Czech Republic.

Sounds like you may need to get travel insurance for him.

Hope it doesn't take that long. We received a letter yesterday saying they have the application and it will soon be processed - could still take ages though...  :-\\\\
