Dopplers...anyone have one?
« on: October 19, 2009, 08:05:57 PM »
So I can stop myself from completely freaking out every single day (at 21 weeks...) can anyone recommend their fetal doppler? I am thinking of buying the Angel Sounds one as its cheap...but wondering if anyone has had one?

If you have any amount of fat on you the Angel sounds might not work.  It never did for me.  I got my off ebay..  I can't remember the name.. I'll look tonight to see if I can find it.  :It was great though and I loved mine.  It was even better when I became high risk.  I just felt better...though don't panic if you can't always find the beat... sometimes it takes a bit if they are smaller or move a lot.

Thats exactly why I want one, I am high risk and I am super nervous all the time. Especially since there hasn't been much movement since yesterday...so I thought a doppler might help me to feel a bit better, but I am aware thats its sometimes difficult to find the heartbeat! Thanks!

racheee - I bought a super cheap Angel Sounds doppler off eBay.  It's not incredibly wonderful but works well enough for me.  I could hear the heartbeat from around 11 weeks, I THINK and I'm definitely not very thin!!  Haven't honestly tried it in ages since movement started.

I had one, but it was crappy and never worked for me.

Rach, I used to drink some oj and then go lay down on my side.  Worked every time. (To feel him kicking at least)

I hope you can find one though for your sake!

I have an Angel sounds that I bought off ebay when I was pregnant with DD.  Its ok and it is what it is.  Its not advertised as industrial or anything like that.  I have quite a bit of fat on me and was told last time and this time around that my BMI is too high and automatically put a reminder in my notes about needing a Glucose test.   :P

Good luck if you do get one.  Hot chocolate always works wonders if the OJ fails.   ;)
