ha ha ha ha ha! My Mom got Statler and Waldorf!!!
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

They used to have Sesame Street here, but it never really caught on.

I wouldn't say it never caught on - I grew up with Sesame Street here in the UK (every weekday at lunchtime on Channel 4)... it was my favourite thing about being off sick from school :P. It was aired in the UK for almost 30 years in total... from the early 1970's to the early 2000's.

D'oh.  I thought it ran for less time than that, but I suppose that was based on my friend's memory about it.  There seem to be a number of theories about why it was pulled though.  Some of them are hilarious.

I am also older than Sesame Street.  Grover will always be my very favorite.

We left the UK in '68, so I was pre-Sesame Street (we moved from here to a country with very little television to speak of). And I think, not growing up with Sesame Street, you don't really develop an appreciation for it. I hate to admit this, but I don't really like it or the characters.  :-\\\\

*gasp* That's sacrilegious.

Although I suppose if you don't have fond childhood memories of it...

Do you like the Muppets?

I don't dislike the characters, but just don't have any particular feeling one way or the other.  I was already 5 years old when the show debuted & never really got into it that much from what I recall.  I remember watching it but it wasn't any big deal to me - I think because I was more or less on the verge of outgrowing the demographic for which it was intended at the time it came out.

Not particularly.

<ducks>

Same for me. I never even saw it until I was old enough to babysit, and by then was far too old.

I got Cookie Monster, of course! I still sleep in a Cookie Monster t-shirt! And I do love me some cookies!

Super Grover was the best ever, though.  ;D

Cookie is awesome!  I do so love Grover's skinny little furry blue arms though.

Sesame Street! I loved it as a child...funny enough, when I was a kid (and pretty much the same today until I have had coffee) I wasn't a morning person. So, in 7th grade my first period teacher (at 7.15am!) gave me the nickname of Oscar  ;D

We are the same age, and you're right--on the old side for the demographic.  I did love it so however and watched it for years--maybe because I had a younger sister?  Maybe I am just a big little kid at heart then as well as now!
