Quesadilla Maker
« on: November 06, 2009, 04:26:35 PM »
Quick question, my Dad's decided to give us a Quesadilla maker (the day we're leaving), thankfully my Mom's coming to visit next week so I can ask this question:

If I brought it to the UK (the power is 120V, 900W) would I need to purchase a power upgrader or could I use my Smart Plug world power adapter (Max load: 1440W@240VAC / 660W@110VAC).  I'm pretty much certain that I'd need a power upgrader, but my family just won't believe me when I'm telling them this info.   ::)

PS - Thanks in advance!

A quesadilla maker? Whatever next! Simple enough to make in a frying pan!

I Googled it cause like Tykeman I have always used a frying pan and I found out Amazon UK sells them so if you want one without having to worry about all that ac/dc stuff, maybe your folks could get you that one.  I can see how it  would be handy if you are putting a lot of fillings in. I always leave mine pretty flat so they fry easily in a non stick pan.

Sorry I don't have the actual answer to your question, though I think you are probably correct.

Not certain about that one (any chance of a photo or link?), but from the way the ratings are specified (both work out to 6 amps) it sounds as though it's just a plug adapter, i.e. it allows you to connect one type of plug to a different type of receptacle but doesn't change the voltage.

If that's so, then you'd need a transformer of about 1kVA or higher rating, like this:
