Chipotle is coming to London for mexican Food lovers!

I just saw this on Facebook this morning...the best burrito's.    I had one right down the street in California. So excited.

Chipotle Mexican Grill - We're headed to London! The restaurant, located at 114-116 Charing Cross Road, will be Chipotle’s first location in Europe and is slated to open in April of 2010. Have you tried Chilango burritos?  Seriously delish!  I like them way better than Chipotle.  Although my husband will be psyched for Chipotle.

Oh yes, Chilango's, Whole Foods and Mexicali all do brilliant versions of the burrito.  I'm still super partial to Chipotle's guac, rice and the medium corn salsa...yummy.   The one I haven't tried yet is Daddy Donkey's.  Everyone is raving...hummm, I have a pretty open day which might warrant a trip to check them out. 

For anyone who loves Mexican food, we had an amazing dinner on Wed at Mestizo in London - by Warren St Tube...really authentic upper end food with a HUGE Tequila bar...be warned.

More Mexican food in London! Fantastic. I grew up in California, and Mexican food was a staple in our diet...

The only Mexican place I went to in London was La Perla. 

Food was pretty good, a decent portion at least, not the most authentic.  However, the did have a MASSIVE tequila selection.  Siete Leguas Anejo was delicious!!!!

Speaking of, anyone that wants tequila... I recommend thedrinkshop.com.  Decent prices and fairly cheap delivery.  And of course it's way better than the 1-2 tequila selections you'll find most places!

There's a ton of recommendations in this thread ranting about Chiquitos recently.

In that thread, I said:

I've tried a lot of Mexican places, and IMHO, the absolute two best in London are Green & Red in Shoreditch, and Mestizo by Euston. I also like Wahaca, but it's kinda more like a Mexican Wagamamas - nice, fresh food, but in a "rush in, rush out, we need your table NOW" atmosphere rather than a proper restaurant.

El Pacifico and La Perla in Covent Garden are both okay, though more leaning onto the Text-Mex side of things, and I hate the Texas Embassy - there is precisely one thing on the menu NOT fried and smothered in cheese (the chicken breast swimming in bottled BBQ sauce). It's Texan fried cheese heartburn alley, not Mexican food. I feel roughly the same way about Chiquitos.

But I was super excited discover last weekend that there's a new Mexican place by my office near Spitalfields, Boho Mexica and the menu online looks really promising! I am going to be SO fat having two fantastic Mexican places within walking distance at lunchtime!!

I had the best burrito of my life at Daddy Donkey's.  I have to say that although I'm excited about Chipotle's...Daddy Donkey's was over the top. 

I know its not Chipotle and Kelli's mentioned it but I agree that Chilango's is really good!  They've just opened one up in Meadowhall (Sheffield) this past month.  My Mom and I just tried it today and I must say its pretty good, nowhere near the choices of Chipotle, but better than Chiquito's and other imitators (at least up here).   

Oh my God!!! I love their food!!! I'm so excited!! 

Me too! April seems a long way off.

Has anyone tried Boho Mexica yet? I'm scheduling a biz lunch with some expats and would love to know if the food's any good.

 I went to a Mexican place in Hastings a couple of months ago, and instead of making their own tortilla chips, they used DORITOS. Blasphemers!
 
 There is a decent mexi place in Brighton, I can't remember the name of it, though.

I went to the Taqueria on Westbourne Grove last night.  Definitely tasty, but pricier than Wahaca with similar serving sizes.
