BF goes back to the UK today (11/14)
« on: November 13, 2009, 11:43:29 PM »
Any words of wisdom of handling the airport goodbye?  :(
I am flying to London to see him in 3 weeks so we should probably just focus on that for tomorrow right?  I'm keeping my brain completely busy to not think about it and enjoying my last few hours w/him in our home here :(.

Get off UK-Yankee and spend time with him!  ;D

Just kidding. But I never mastered the art of the airport goodbye - I was usually in tears. It sucks, but on the other hand, it's so bittersweet, isn't it? You love each other so much that you can't bear to be separated. Finding that kind of love is a beautiful thing.

Ah, you'll be fine! 3 weeks will fly by! :) Having the goal to look forward to and count down to makes all the difference. Enjoy the time you've got left. I was in your place this time last week! I've got 3 months to wait, though.

Thanks everyone.  We went bowling tonight and had a lovely dinner to get our minds off the inevitable (sp?) and you are right...3 weeks is nothing really.  I think it just sounded hopeless as we live together now and see one another every day:).  I have a job interview over there in 3 weeks too so I'm going to focus on that!!!!  Please keep your fingers crossed for me :)!!!

Yeah 3 weeks is nothing!!! I guess to the average relationship a week alone for your other yet alone 3 would sound unbearable!! I guess those of us who are in a LDR might look at that a bit different lol! It's been 3 weeks since i seen my gf in the UK! May be seeing her again in 6 weeks-ish (hopefully!!) I wish it was 3 weeks for me!! =D

Glad you had a good last night, just keep busy...you will be on at the airport getting ready to board to see him before you know it!

NYSeagirl,

I feel your pain, we all do for sure. I was in your place in May as I was leaving the UK and my BF was coming over just 3 weeks later to Florida to meet my family. It still was horrible to say goodbye at the airport. It never ever gets easier, but like Cellar Door stated, it is a beautiful thing to have a love and bond so strong. I think I would worry if it didn't hurt so bad  ;) I love to get home and have loads of emails telling me how he is missing me already and can't wait to hear my voice again.

We have been apart now since June, having used up all of our holidays the first part of this year. So I am leaving 18 DEC to spend Xmas and NY's with his fam! Not too much longer now.

3 weeks will pass in a flash. Just keep loving each other.

Big hugs and sends you a packet of tissues, I know I always need them :)

I sit here re-reading all of your posts and I cry....it gives me so much strength and I appreciate it so much.  I got through night and day one apart...and 3 weeks is now less then 3 weeks...I can't wait to see my man again ;).  Thank you all so much for the words of encouragement.
