Yoga Mats
« on: November 28, 2009, 05:32:59 PM »
I know there are some other yogis on here, so thought I would ask.

One of the things I would like for Christmas this year is a new yoga mat. Prices seem to vary quite a bit, but I do want something good, so don't mind spending a bit if it's worth it. The last one that I bought is terrible, and I end up just using the ones in the studio.

Any recommendations?

I have a Danskin that I absolutely love...the padding is fantastic!

Manduka is supposed to be top of the line. I just use cheapies I bought from TK Maxx! :)

I bought one from huggermugger.com. I bought it while I was in the US years ago, so I'm not sure if they ship to the UK or not. Mine is a little bit thicker than normal (more like a pilates mat), but that's because I have bad knees and it would hurt when I would do kneeling poses on a regular mat. I would constantly double up my mat, so I figured I'd just get a thicker one.

I have a Utopian mat. It's quite a bit thicker than other mats and much heavier. It's great for home practice, but not practical to take to classes.
