My husband has been pushing me to watch them because we have the box set at the house. He loves it! He found out it was being remade and was excited about it. Maybe this week I'll pop in the first DVD and see if it sucks me in. Then we can watch the US version together.  :)

The original was amazing! I love it!!  Ashes to Ashes is great as well. Love me some Gene Hunt! :P The American remake was pretty bad. They were basically remaking the original scripts- with Jason O'Mara with a fake American accent. Harvey Keitel as Hunt was NOT convincing. But, the last couple of episodes (before the disastrous finish!) were original scripts and MUCH better. Then it got cancelled right as it hit its stride.....

Don't hate me, but i am not a fan of us "the office". I know, i know. I think a big part of why they remake them is censors would NEVER let these shows on in their entirety. And u lose SOOO much when they r cut. Remember "benny hill" on pbs? (LOL) Or the the "utopia" trilogy of the new series of Dw on the same?  I was shouting at the screen for the latter. AAUUGGHH!!!

They have remade the Office for at least five countries US, UK, France, French Canada, Germany and Chile.

I think they remade the Office because each country has a different workplace experience and if you want to reach the widest audience then you have to appeal to a wide audience.

I like both the US and UK Office, but what is funny in one country isn't in another.

I think the American Office is a completely different animal to the UK version, the characters are ever so slightly similar, and the original setting up of the storyline was slightly similar, but its much much different with lots of different issues and characters.

Apparently, they are also launching a Russian version shortly and are in talks for one in India.
