Grandma is in common usage here, it's the preferred option of my mother & grandmother.  My grandmother hates "granny" and as for "nanny" she says she's not anyone's goat or servant!

That's when you bust out the glitter, macaroni, and encourage 'creativity'. ;)

She'd probably eat it!  ::) I've gotten around it so far by buying cute "from your granddaughter" cards.

DD calls MIL Granny or Grandma, FIL Grandad and my parents are American Granny / Grandma & Grandad.  It helps her separate them as different people in her mind and then she knows who she's talking to on the phone.

We always called my grandparents 'Grandma and Pappy Lastname'. That's how we told the difference since they were all Grandma and Pappy! Even when my one grandma got remarried I still called her grandma originallastname!  ;D

I'll let the girls decide what they want to call me but as they'll be brought up in the UK I imagine it'll be mum or mummy which I don't mind. For some reason I don't like the word mommy but I think thats because I never called my mom mommy. It was either mom or momma.

My mom has already decided she wants to be called nana instead of grandma which is traditional in our family. She definately doesn't want to be called memaw which is what her grandmother was called. I think Jon's mother wants just to be called grandma.
There are two things in life for which we are never truly prepared:  twins.

Yep, mum here too. I even called my own mother mum while she was alive.

A funny story about "nanny". My mum hated being called nanny and asked to be called "granny Mona". DSS was only little, bless him, and had a "nanny glenis" and a "nanny wynne" and a "nanny sheila" and was struggling to grasp the concept of a different nomenclature so settled on "nanny grona". Fortunately, she saw the funny side and "nanny grona" she remained LOL
