I've Forgotten How to Endorse a Check!
« on: January 02, 2010, 08:24:38 AM »
Hi and Happy New Year,

I've been sent a check from the US that was made out to my married name.  However, my US bank account is in my maiden name.

How do I endorse the check so that I can deposit it into my US account?  I think I might have to sign my maiden name then my married name then my account number but I really can't remember!

From what I can remember, you cant endorse a check here
Your best bet is to bring in your marriage certificate to show your name is now changed

You sign it the way it is written out to first...then the way your name is on your account and then your account number...at least that used to be the way when I worked in a bank many many many years ago!
