urgh...I HAD to let mom plan the wedding
« on: July 25, 2004, 04:48:04 AM »
:( well, i"m getting married August 17th...I think....my mom keeps changing her mind about where she wants this to happen, and although it is OUR wedding and WE should plan it, we've decided to put things into her hands, as his family isn't very close and mine is small..so I've sent her the funding for the event, and left her to it...thing is, every time she changes her mind, she calls me to tell me yet again, "honey how about we do it here" URGH how frustrating...LMAO and I'm supposed to be excited about this, my big day!!!
I'd say just let me do it mom, but they live 5 hours south of me, and I know nada about the area....
plus with getting the big move together, I've barely got time to sleep, let alone plan a wedding...so i'm basically cornered...
I know she's really trying, but I'm starting to think eloping sounds really good....
someone please just tell me it's gonna be ok...and of course to shut up...LOL
I'm just praying the visa and the wedding go off without ANY hitches....lord knows i've busted my butt to get this far!!!
ok shutting up now :) ta for listening to me...LOL

Thinking this helped me keep my sanity during wedding planning:

"No matter what...no matter who pays, where it happens, what we eat, what I'm wearing, what we dance to....no matter what....no matter what happens, at the end of that day, we'll be married and that's all that really matters."

And it really is all that matters!

Lolabola, thanks so much for that. I'm chanting it to myself right now and will continue to do so until the big day. I'm absolutely melting down with stress over the planning and we're starting to think very, very seriously about calling it all off and eloping.

And aacchhoo, I feel your pain too as I'm letting my mom plan our US reception and while she hasn't been changing her mind toooo much (only once on the venue so far) she adds more to it everytime I talk to her and it gets a bit more elaborate each time.

"No matter what...no matter who pays, where it happens, what we eat, what I'm wearing, what we dance to....no matter what....no matter what happens, at the end of that day, we'll be married and that's all that really matters.""No matter what...no matter who pays, where it happens, what we eat, what I'm wearing, what we dance to....no matter what....no matter what happens, at the end of that day, we'll be married and that's all that really matters.""No matter what...no matter who pays, where it happens, what we eat, what I'm wearing, what we dance to....no matter what....no matter what happens, at the end of that day, we'll be married and that's all that really matters.""No matter what...no matter who pays, where it happens, what we eat, what I'm wearing, what we dance to....no matter what....no matter what happens, at the end of that day, we'll be married and that's all that really matters.""No matter what...no matter who pays, where it happens, what we eat, what I'm wearing, what we dance to....no matter what....no matter what happens, at the end of that day, we'll be married and that's all that really matters.""No matter what...no matter who pays, where it happens, what we eat, what I'm wearing, what we dance to....no matter what....no matter what happens, at the end of that day, we'll be married and that's all that really matters.""No matter what...no matter who pays, where it happens, what we eat, what I'm wearing, what we dance to....no matter what....no matter what happens, at the end of that day, we'll be married and that's all that really matters."

;D  It'll help!  Believe me, if it got me through my wedding planning, it'll get anyone through theirs (except maybe JLo!).

LOL @ JLo, does she even know how many times she's been married and to WHO anymore??????
Yeah, I'm excited about the wedding, only gonna be about a 5 person affair, but my goodness, first it's on a ship, then it's on a boat, then it's in a chapel, and now it's in the middle of town, in a public park, in a gazebo...ffs make up my mind already mom!!! LOL
I'm wearing my dress, I'm having pics taken, we're having a simple dinner afterwards, then Karl, my son and I are taking off for a 6 hr journey to Chicago to meet with the consulate the following morning...so I just want to get the wedding done, married, LEGALLY, and get my visa....I WANT my visa...LOL

AACCHHOO, if you're anything like me. . . you'd love that someone else is planning your wedding!  I just got back from mine (it was the tiniest wedding in the world).  It was absolutely perfect.  The less you plan and expect, the less that can go wrong! And since you're only having 5 people that alone makes it less stressful.

The morning of my wedding, we got up late, my mom and I went to a random hairdresser in town (it was in Vermont- we were lucky to find one!) got my hair done, got a manicure and pedicure, then went to a random florist for some flowers.  My hair turned out beautiful, the flowers were beautiful and I was just thinking, this is how relaxed you should be on your wedding day! We're going to have a bigger ceremony in the future and I'm sure I won't be as relaxed as I was that day.

I had a blast and I'm sure yours will be perfect too!!!  The worst part is the stressing that takes place beforehand!  Oh, and there's always the visa stress afterwards. . . but think of all of the success stories you've heard from all of us here!

Do you think JLo gets nervous anymore???

Best wishes!!!!
