« on: January 06, 2010, 01:49:26 PM »

Me:
Jan 20th - Austin to PHL then going to my parents neat Atlantic City, NJ
Jan 27th - PHL to Paris to NCL - I get home!

I have some time before starting a new job in April, so I decided to take the opportunity to get some travelling done (the job involves several months of training and then a 2-year commitment to the job, so this could be my only chance to travel for the next few years) :).

Just returned yesterday from celebrating New Year in Munich, Dusseldorf and Amsterdam.

On the 21st (i think), i am travelling to Manchester for the Winter Ales Festival, then on to Stalybridge, Huddersfield and Sheffield for a few days.

I haven't booked flights yet, but I'm planning to head to London either late January (weekend of the 29th) or early Feb (the weekend after). I'll probably stay a month (more or less) until I find a job, and then I'll head back here to DC to get my dog and head back to London (via Paris, because it's ridiculously cheaper that way). :)

In my case it's cheaper not for me, but for the pup. Going to Paris he can go as "checked baggage" rather than cargo, so it's about 10x less expensive. Then the tricky part is doing the train/ferry from Paris into London, but that's just time/hassle-intensive, it should still be cheap/relatively easy (I hope).

You must be so excited. Safe flight and when you have time would be nice to get little glimpses into your new life here.

Your parents are near AC, in NJ?  Cool.  I spent every summer in AC as a kid.  My grandparents lived in Atlantic City and then Ventnor (right next to AC) when I was growing up.  Loved it!

I can't tell you how jealous I am of this, JEP.  Really, it's not healthy.  :(  We can't afford to go anywhere, let alone to the US.  I've been here over two years now and haven't visited my parents or sister or my many friends.  I need to get to Florida (parents) and Philly (everyone else) but no money!  It doesn't help that I've just sent off my ILR stuff and won't have a passport for probably 4 months and will also be 820 pounds poorer for it.

Eventually, I guess I'll get there.  :-\\\\

Where is Ireland are you going?

Andee - Yeah I went to RBR (Red Bank Regional HS) and I graduated from Stockton College down South Jersey...

I just love south jersey but north jersey is so different..My parents (I mean my mom and stepdad) live in Egg Harbor 15 miles outside AC on 60 acres so it isn't like big city living lol

JEP - JEALOUS you traveling thing! I will be there one day ;-)

Here is the conversation I had with the DH the other night:
DH: we are gonna be busy when you get here
Me: I know - IKEA here we come
DH: We will not be able to sit still
Me: why not sit still?
DH: we have traveling to do!
Me: Where?
DH: All over, I got places I want to take you like Greece and Ireland and a trip to Scotland too!
Me: oh Fun but can I get there and get my bearings first?

So I know traveling will be in our future but I am not bothered yet because I just want to get there

haha

Zoya your husband is so cute...he is so excited you are coming over...but you are right you need to get your bearings first before you start travelling everywhere...I am finally ready...and remember when you start to travel that you have to come down to Brixham and visit us here...
