Can you help me compare DCF and K8 spouse visa?
« on: January 12, 2011, 12:43:06 PM »
We have recently started talking about the possibility of us moving back to America. We talked about our two different options of us/my husband (UKC) getting there. I think these are the only two.
I know they will both take a while. I know the K8 is filed while I'm in America and that the DCF is filed while we are both here in England.
Long story short, I'm about to be made redundant within the next few months and I am considering moving back and then beginning the K8 filing. But, if the DCF is a better way to go we would consider that. I just want to know more about each way. Can anyone help guide me?

There's information about DCF and K visas.  You're sure to find some help from those who have gone before you.   :)

No such thing as a K8. If you're referring to the K-3, which is a spouse visa and is filed by the petitioner in the U.S., that path is administratively closed and becomes an IR-1/CR-1 after you apply -- effectively turning it into the exact same thing as DCF, only with some added steps, added time and added cost.

If you can DCF, do.

Thank you, that is what I meant. I was pulling that from my memory. I will have a look at this link as well.
That is exactly what I want to do is compare costs, time frame, which is more simple (I know both are a lot of work), etc.

Just out of curiosity, would I be able to begin filing for DCF in the UK and then move to America while it is in process and my UK husband stay in the UK until it is finalized?
