want the light at the end of the tunnel
« on: January 21, 2010, 10:05:22 PM »
My husband and I were married the end of June, I went over end of July hoping to spend 2-3 months there but was refused entry and told to come back and obtain a spousal visa which i immediately did. They've had my app. for almost five months now and living without my husband has been absolutely heartbreaking. He came for 3 wks over the holiday and saying goodbye for the second time just killed me. Not knowing "when" the visa will come is the toughest. Being in limbo is the worst.  I went to Safeway last night and cried cuz the last time I was there I was with him. He left one of his shirts and I have it in a zip lock bag so the smell of his cologne stays. Sounds so pathetic but I just need something to hold on to. Certain songs that played while he was here, restaurants we went to, it all just makes me soooooo sad. I know I am not the only one who has had to deal with the heartbreak and I am so thankful for this sight cuz it has been comforting to me. Just the not knowing and having everything out of my control and loving someone so much and not being able to be together is really really tough. Thank you for letting me vent.

It's not that long, actually. Un-expedited applications can take 60-90 business days, and applications that aren't straight-forward (i.e. entry refusals, etc) will take longer.

Good luck, though, I hope you get your results soon!

I have all the faith in the world that you will get your Visa very soon!  My Visa was very straight forward and it took two months.
I understand being away from your husband.  I have been married for two years now (almost exactly) and we have only spent about 9 months of that two years, together, in the same country!  It's totally normal to feel the way you do.  I just know that you guys will be together again soon :)
Met and fell in love with a Scotsman in early 2007.  Moved to Scotland early 2009.  Had to come back to the US in June 2009 to deal with idiot government employees who screwed up my daughter's passport.  Finally back in Scotland, March 9 2010.  Yes I did fly a 16 hour flight with 3 children and 2 plane changes!

So sorry to hear this, jenshute. Perhaps someone will pop on and tell you how to get more information about your application. It seems after 5 months you should be able to get some information about the status of the application. Hang in there. I am sure you will be together soon. If the only problem with the application is that you were "bounced" once, but you went back and immediately applied for the spousal visa, then you should be ok, I would think. Good luck to you. I know the waiting is very hard.

Have you tried as was suggested in another post - contacting an expeditor to see if you application can be retrieved and resubmitted by them?

yes, i found out the reason for the delay. they are looking into why i was refused the first time. I didnt know about expiditors till i found this websight.  wish we would've gone that route.  we had our first webcam experience today. was so nice to see him and hear his voice!!!!! the wait is sooooooo hard. i don't wish it on anyone.  what makes me feel a bit happier is knowing that we will be together sometime soon and that will make it all worth it in the end.
