Who is right here?!

For those of you that eloped to Vegas (or know anything about this) and had a quickie wedding, how long were you in Vegas for?

My DB and I were having a debate about this. He thinks we need to be there for a week minimum (max - 10 days) in order to get the marriage certificate and the apostille that we'll send in with the spousal visa. I say that it shouldn't take more than 4 days and that we don't need an apostille for the application.

Who is right? I don't think I could handle 10 days (let alone 7 days) in Vegas...that's 7 days too long for me!

I was actually looking at that today, and there's no waiting period at all.. Just show up at the marriage bureau before your ceremony, show some identification, pay $60, and get a marriage license. Then proceed to your specified wedding chapel and get hitched.

You don't need an apostille.  I think I posted in another of your threads hat we arrived Tuesday night and left Friday morning.  You could do it in 24 hours if you wanted.  But 4 days would be more than enough.

We got married on Amelia Island, Florida. We applied for the licence the day before and could even have got it on the day of the wedding. We then filed it the following day at the courthouse but again, time permitting, could have done it the same day.

Same for us! we went to orlando county court house at 8am in the morning, got the marriage license at 9am and were married 5 mins after that! I had only been in the country since the day before it was super easy!

We got married in vegas just over 6 years ago.  We were there for 5 or 6 days.  You have to check with you're getting married to see if they can rush the paper work down to the court house.  Because I don't think they have to turn in the paperwork the same day.  We tipped the guy who married us a little extra to bring the paperwork to city hall or the courts (I can't remember which).  We were then able to pick up the certificate the next day.  Just make sure the venue is willing to do this for you.

We went to a friend's weddig in Vegas and the minimum you need is 24 hours, but if you want to make a trip out of it 4-10 days is reasonable.

You definitely don't need an apostille.  I was married in Vegas and got my UK visa with no apostille and no problems.  This is not something that needs to be worried about

See, better info coming from you than me as the visa requirements change so frequently I can't keep up!    

But you've gotta give them credit for at least mentioning it in advance for some people that would be unsuspecting (like probably just about any other state).
