another driving question!
« on: February 13, 2010, 10:58:37 PM »
I'm nowhere near taking the test, but - when I do, will I be using my own car, or the instructor's car?  I ask because ours is a left-hand-drive which we brought with us from Germany.  Obviously the majority of my practice will be in that car, so I'd just like to know what to expect.

Thanks!

I used, and think it is typical to use, my instructor's car.  I think you can use your own car, but you have to make sure it is fitted out as required (you may need an extra rear-view mirror or something? I vaguely remember reading).

Yarp.  I just took my practical test and was told that test cars must be kitted out with the extra mirrors so the test giver can verify your mirror use.

I think it's easy enough to secure an instructors car to use, but you might want a chance to get used to how it handles.
...the whole damn thing will turn
and return redefined, rearranged, rearranged...
