hi- visa approved already, moving soon :)
« on: March 18, 2010, 03:19:41 AM »
I posted in the visa/citizenship category already, but I'll post here as well.

I've been lurking on these forums for the last few months, since my partner and I decided to settle in the UK.  We're a bit of a unique case, having met and lived overseas for a few years before deciding on the UK.

I'm from Michigan, went to school in Indiana, and haven't lived in the U.S. since 2003.  My partner is Welsh, and spends a lot of time holidaying overseas, but never stays away from home for long.

I was thrilled to get my visa in just 3 weeks (we didn't use an expeditor) and am moving back to Wales (Cardiff area) next week.  (We were there before we came to the States to apply for the visa, so I already feel like it's home)

Still trying to sort out what to do next.  i.e. How to apply for jobs, get a national insurance number, move my money from Japan to the UK.

Thanks  :)
I studied Japanese in school, and then moved to Japan to teach English. Quite simple really. ;D

I used to teach English in Japan!  I was in Osaka, and actually met my British husband there.  Where did you live?

Hello and welcome!  I know one of our members from Harrogate also met her husband teaching English in Japan.  I hope she sees this thread.  :)

Hiya :)

I have seen this thread-thanks for the heads of IA!  :)  I was in Osaka teaching English on JET.  Which part did you live in?  If you have any questions, please PM me!  :)

Thanks.

I was in Chiba the first year at an eikaiwa, then moved to Nagano to teach at a public junior high school for 6 months, and then to Tokyo to work at a private elementary school.

And amusingly, my brain read Harrogate as it would be pronounced if it were Japanese.
