I tossed ours because I didn't have room to store it, and I would have to use it to make things only for Mr. A. as I currently don't eat meat.  If neither of those were a problem, I'd probably use it to boil beans for baked beans.  It definitely smelled like it would make an awesome base for that.

Thanks Cadenza and Legs! The recipe calls for a 2 litre of coke so I had to ask  :) looks like I'll be doing this recipe for New Years Day. I ended up just getting a gammon joint (no bone) from the butcher. It's not cured so I was looking around on the web and according to a few sites I should soak it over night to help get rid of the extra salt. I'll do that tomorrow. I think as long as I follow this recipe I should be fine. Hope I'm not in over my head on this. BTW, that baked beans idea doesn't sound to bad.

I did the Nigella Coca Cola Ham and it was fantastic! I made some gravy out of the stock and OMG it was so good. Thanks for posting the recipe and all the tips. I told DH and the inlaws that I was using a bottle of coke and they seemed worried  :o. LOL My meal turned out great plus I impressed the family which is nice considering the shock they had before they tasted it. ;D

Just made this for Easter, and it's definitely good cold.

awesome - whats the consensus on bone in or out? nigella's recipie don't specify either.

also - for 10 people, how big a ham?  (making sandwiches, not mains)

I've been eating our Easter ham for a week now--cold and hot.  It's good still.  I think her recipe said that a 2.5 g ham feeds eight, but I did a much bigger one than that b/c the men in DH's family eat more than that.

SIL did the Nigella ham a couple years ago for New Year's Eve, used the cooking liquid as a base for black bean soup the following day.

You know I did the Nigella Coca-Cola ham about 2-3 weeks ago & the ham was lovely.  I just cooked it in the Coke - I didn't actually finish it with glaze in the oven, etc - and just sliced it up for sandwiches.  I did save the Coke-broth-cooking juice like the recipe said, but to be honest - I found it simply vile.  DH made a soup using it, with leftover bits of ham & cabbage plus other veg, and I could hardly bear to eat it.  I picked out the ham and the cabbage, leaving the juice, because I found it far too sweet & cloying to consume on its own.  Maybe if I were making BBQ baked beans or something that's intended to be sweet, but I still have a container of that juice in the freezer and I'm thinking of just chucking it out.  :-\\\\
