My instructor didn't, so I'd say probably not. However, you can take the theory and hazard perception tests anytime you want - they're not tied to your practical test. You just need to make sure you've taken and passed them before you go for your practical.

Mine doesn't have any materials either.  Actually I have had two instructors and neither of them have given me anything.  They will tell you to buy a copy of the highway code and study it.

I am using an instructor from Storm driving school and I pay £25/hr for automatic lessons (they will always be more than manual)   My experience was that I had one lesson and he told me I was a good driver already and to call him back once I've got my practical test scheduled then he would work on the details and maneuvers (reversing around a corner, parallel parking, etc) with me.  He reckons it takes "most Americans" only about 6 lessons (and lots of private practice) to get it down.  Lets hope hes right! :)

Sounds about right from DHs experience, he had 5 lessons and passed first time.  The driving test wasn't a full one either since the test guy recognised that he was an experienced driver from the start so he had an easier time of it.

DH also used the DVLA recommended Hazard Perception practice book and dvd and he passed that test first time too.

Good luck  ;D

I used the one recommended by the DVLA and I thought it was extremely helpful. I'd been driving in the US for 25 years, but experience won't really help you with the Hazard Perception Test. The DVD will help you figure out the tricks you'll need to pass the test ... and, believe me, it is tricky. You need to get used to when to click, how not to click too often, how not too click too late, etc. I couldn't have done it without the DVD.

I passed the first time.  :)

This too :)

And I played on the various websites that had practice games.
