Tonight: roast leg of lamb courtesy of the next door neighbor farmer, roast veggies and salad.

Tomorrow: quick breakfast of cereal as I have to work  >:(. For dinner, traditional Hoppin' John with greens and cornbread.
When I was 5 years old, my mother always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down ‘happy’. They told me I didn’t understand the assignment, and I told them they didn’t understand life. ~ John Lennon

I've never heard of hoppin john before, so it must not be a tradition where i come from!
I googled it to see what it was, and it does sound nice!  :)

We're not doing anything special for Hogmanay... just maybe going to drink a bit more than a normal Friday night.

Tonight DH is making a prawn madras curry, cos i worked today and he didnt.
Tomorrow is steak pie for Ne'erday, which is traditional in Scotland.

Aimiloo, that menu sounds GORGEOUS!!!  It's making my mouth water!

We're going to my cousins, along with another couple (kids included) and everybody is bringing something.  So far it's an assortment of:  bbq ribs, stuffed mushroom, steamed shrimp w/ cocktail sauce, cheese straws, meatballs, chips w/ guacamole, home made brownies, lemon merigne pie, champagne punch, etc. etc. a real pot luck.

But my goodness;  it doesn't get more delectable than surf n turf....

For Hogmanay, we had artichoke and mushroom chicken, rice and salad.  Tomorrow will be a pot of chili, cornbread and assorted junk foods to watch the college bowl games.

Yes, I'm STILL in CA..... dying to come back to London!!
Love your life, poor as it is. You may perhaps have some pleasant, thrilling, glorious hours, even in a poorhouse. The setting sun is reflected from the windows of the almshouse as brightly as from the rich man’s abode; the snow melts before its doors as early in the spring. Cultivate property like a garden herb, like sage. Do not trouble yourself much to get new things, whether clothes or friends. Turn the old; return to them. Things do not change; we change. Sell your clothes and keep your thoughts…

Last night we had a veggie curry and a bottle of Cava brut. :) Tonight we'll have black-eyed peas and rice (or 'hoppin john'), mixed steamed veg and Dalepack quarterpounder crispy vegetable patties. :)
