What to do? Here's my predicament. I pulled my son out of school 2 weeks ago because we really thought we would have visa in hand w/in the week and be gone. The visa delays and volcano have us grounded. I checked with my mom, who is a retired principal, and she is really concerned about his time out of school and getting credit. At this point she said I might have to appeal to the school board for being out this many days- 11 counting today in one semester.
I'm hoping some other parents who have brought their children to the UK during the school year may be able to offer some insight.
1) School records? Will the abscences be a concern should his current school actually transfer his records?
2) Should I try to go through the process of re-enrolling him eventhough we might be gone yet in another week?
3) Placement- do they place based on age or ability? He has excellent reading skills but is really behind in math.
I am working with him daily on his multiplication facts and we do a fun language page out of another workbook. I also make him work on his math program on the computer at least 3 times a week. So I am really trying to keep him in focus.
Anyway, educators/ parents, what are your thoughts? I know there are some public school teachers on this forum that are working in the UK. I hope you get this and can help!
Thanks for all your replies so far.
