Tufnell Park?
« on: April 29, 2010, 11:04:05 AM »
Hello All,

My boyfriend and I just moved to London from NYC. We've been having a difficult time searching for a rental b/c we just don't know the areas that well, and we've gotten mixed reviews on each area we've looked into.

We're currently staying in Willesden Green which we don't much care for... we found a great place yesterday in Tufnell Park that we loved and felt really good about; however, we've now heard from a couple friends that it's a dangerous area!? Have any of you lived in Tufnell Park? Any thoughts?

I'd appreciate any feedback - thanks in advance for your help Smiley

Best,
Amy

It's not any more dangerous than Willesden Green! Depending where in Tufnell Park, you might be near Holloway Rd which can be a bit dodgy, especially at night, but like I say it's not any worse than most areas of London.

Agree with Shahbanou. I think Tufnell Park is fine. The thing about 'safety' is that it's relative to one's experience. Where in NYC did you live?

Thanks for your thoughts - I really appreciate it.

We lived in the West Village in NYC. A couple blocks away from a not-so-great area. NYC is similar to London that way...

We've decided to go ahead with the flat - it's on a lovely residential block on St. Georges Avenue, and we love the landlord. We'll also in proximity to Camden, Regents Park and Hampstead Heath which is way cool. I figure we'll just steer clear of the rough areas, especially at night.

Thanks again! Enjoy this beautiful Friday :)
