Dumb question about ESTA...
« on: May 09, 2010, 11:28:18 PM »
As an American citizen, do I need to apply for an ESTA with my British wife? We are going to visit my family next week. I'm assuming not, but ya never know...

Thanks!

Apply for an Authorization to Travel to the United States
Select this option if:
You are a citizen or eligible national of a Visa Waiver Program country.
You are currently not in possession of a visitor's visa.
Your travel is for 90 days or less.
You plan to travel to the United States for business or pleasure.

I googled and got this. I don't understand it but.....

Americans do not register for ESTA...but all Visa Waiver Program individuals (such as your British Wife and any children that do not have US passports) need to register with ESTA a minimum of 72 hours before your travel. It is then recommended that you print out the ESTA clearence page and take that with you when you check in as there has been word that a few airlines are asking for the proof of ESTA clearence when you check in.
