From Carolina to Cambridgeshire
« on: May 19, 2010, 05:44:16 PM »
Hi there. My husband is British and we have been married and living in North Carolina for 8 years but he's just been offered a job in Cambridge so unless something changes drastically we'll be there by the end of the summer. I've heard many times that this is a great place for support and guidance on UK relocation so I'm going to take the time to read some boards and probably start posting my own questions quite soon. Great to be here!
Arrived 12 Oct 2010/Spousal Visa
Whole new world for a Southern gardener, but I'm very happy.

Hi.  There are a few of us in Cambridgeshire/Cambridge.  However, a few are stuck back in the US right now taking up more of their annual leave then they should be due to volcanic issues.   ;)

Hope all your planning goes well.  If you are moving to actual Cambridge we can give advice on areas.

I'm in the Charlotte Metro area. I'll definitely be back to ask Cambridge area specific questions once we start the move. Thanks guys!

Welcome! I do not have any advice.  I just got really excited when I saw Charlotte.  I lived there for a few years and would live there again if London was not taking me away.  I really miss my friends.

Anyway, I hope your move goes smoothly.

New to the forum myself, but want to say hi to the North Carolinans that are about. I'm from Raleigh, myself. Came over to Norfolk in January (Brrrr!). Cambridgeshire is just down the road, actually. In fact, we plan to head down there to Ely next week during my wife's half-term break. A wonderful area, for sure.
CAMILLA: You sir, should unmask.

STRANGER: Indeed?

CASSILDA: Indeed it's time. We all have laid aside disguise but you.

STRANGER: I wear no mask.

CAMILLA: (Terrified, aside to Cassilda.) No mask? No mask!
