I just want an easy life :-/
« on: June 28, 2010, 12:28:50 AM »
I wish our case was straightforward ugh!

It just seems with my divorce taking so long because of the ancillary relief and my ex's bankruptcy last year our whole application seems to be explanations about this and that :-/

Explanation about me having to buy his share of the house and getting solicitors letters to confirm he is only on the paperwork (Mortgage Statement and Land Registry) until the deal has been completed and I have paid the money.

Explanation about my redundancy and payments in and out of my account.

Explanation from my solicitor that my decree absolute is imminent.

And now I just realised my tax credit award doesn't say the same figure as the figure my accountant has put on my financial forecast. Don't get me wrong, extra money is a good thing but now I'm chewed up that they will frown upon this and that we should hold off putting the application in until I have the new tax credits notice  :\\\'(

I am so jittery it's not funny  :\\\'(

This isn't an issue...neither are your redundancy payments. It's life, nothing is perfect nor will it ever be.

Don't delay for something that is not relevent. You're fine and just overthinking things a tad much.

WebyJ is right, and we all get antsy and overthink things when it comes to visas and things. It's such a big deal that it is hard to see it as just a bundle of paperwork, but hang in there and just do what you need to do. You will see light at the end of the tunnel soon!  :)

Thanks you two  :-* Your both right, I am over thinking this way too much, we've met in person, we're in love and engaged to be married, I meet the maintenance to support him, I have my own place for us to live, I suppose in the grand scheme of things all this paperwork is just confirming that :)

Do either of you know how soon you can get a biometrics appointment? We would like to put the application in online on Wednesday night now. We're just wondering if he might be able to get one this week or if they run on Saturdays?

It just depends on the available appointments at the application centres near where he lives. Sometimes you can get an appointment within a day or two, other times you have to wait a few days. The available appointments won't show up until the end of the online application process, but he should be able to chose where he gets the biometrics done (if there are a few nearby centres) and select when he wants the appointment. I don't believe biometrics can be done on a Saturday though as I think the biometric centres are only open Monday to Friday.

He should make sure he has all the application documents in hand before submitting the online application/attending the biometrics because he will only have 14 calendar days for the documents to reach the relevant consulate after the biometrics appointment.

Thanks for the info :)

I have all the paperwork now in hand and am taking it with me so we're good there. If we manage to pull off what we're hoping it will be a miracle.

I fly out on Tuesday, submit the online app on Wednesday, get the biometrics done, pay for the expedited service and fed ex all the documentation in and maybe, just maybe he'll be able to fly back to the UK with me on 21st July lol

I know it's 15 working days for the visa but you never know, we might just get what we want and if not it's not the end of the world if he has to follow a few days later.

Good luck, Miss Jo!!!  ;D

I'm not too far from you, just a bit further north in Northumberland. Sometimes those of us in this area meet up in Newcastle, so maybe you and your American lad can come and meet up with us once he gets all settled in, if he starts to miss the dulcet tones of the American accent.  :)

Thanks Jewlz  ;D

Northumberland is beautiful, I love it up there. Am going to take Steve to Alnwick Castle when he gets back over. We'd love to meet up with you guys in Newcastle at your next meet, I'm pretty sure after a few months he'll be craving to hear the accents lol

We're only 9 miles north of Alnwick. We live in Amble. I'm sure he would love to see Alnwick Castle! Warkworth is also a very picturesque little village with a nice castle and some good pubs and it's only a mile from us, 8 miles north of Alnwick. So maybe sometime once he gets all settled in, if you come up this way to see the sights, we can meet you in Alnwick or elsewhere for a pint or something. Just hit me up on here and let me know, I'm happy to help and I'm always up for making new friends.  :)

And for whatever reason (though I can't imagine one) if you're ever down Derby way let me know  ;D and I'll buy you a cup of coffee or a pint!

Why do you have to be so far away from me, D? Wish I could get coffee with you!  :(
