iPad experience
« on: October 08, 2010, 05:04:20 PM »
I gave our son an iPad for his 6th birthday, mostly because he likes to watch Sonic and Mario videos on YouTube.  He didn't have any training as such, he already knew how to reach YouTube and type in 'Sonic' from using my wife's laptop.

And apparently, using it every day and thousands and thousands of trial and error, he has become astonishingly adept at it.  He can do stuff we never thought possible like change the font, connect to a different network, download applications, reconfigure email, and the whole enchilada.  No training.  He can't even read that much.  Now he's extrapolated and started showing my wife how to do stuff on her iPhone and she's stunned because she didn't know various options and what-not were available.

I think it has to do with being very young and experimenting over and over.  Are people having similar experiences?

We recently had a 10 month old baby visiting (with the rest of her family). Now, she's a smart kid, but I was totally surprised at how she took to the iPad. She "has" an iPod touch that her mom puts games on for her (moo cow and the like) so she was already used to the format, but she was having a great time. And once she found the keyboard app? HOURS of melody making.
It's so much fun to watch. I even downloaded a couple of picture books just to watch her flip through them.
That said, I've seen VERY technophobic adults (my grandma) also take to Apple products because they are so visual and trial and error friendly.

Do you know if there's a way to put family pictures on it without going to the iTunes store?
