I love the announcements on the tube that "in this hot weather, it is advisable to carry a bottle of water". They don't actually mention drinking the water, though. ;)

Pretty sure there is one in Ireland on the west coast--just as odd as one in Manchester!

I see rain up north, today, in the Isle of Man, Inverness and the Orkneys. Wish I was there! You lucky sods! ;)

3 months to go of temperatures of over 100 degrees here. :(

You and me, both! I'm staying with my parents (central valley, ca) while getting my visa and they've been having an unusually coolunhot summer - merely upper 90's and low 100s. Meanwhile Inverness is having thunderstorms without me! :o(

Is that like telling you to take an umbrella with you but not telling you to open it up and put above your head if it starts to rain? :D

It was chucking it down here last night, with thunder and everything.  I haven't seen rain that heavy here in months.  I can't imagine there will be any more talk of hosepipe bans after that!

Here in Lancashire too!  I honestly started worrying about tornadoes, and kept checking the weather (which wasn't updated anyway!)

I thought the same thing, I kept hearing sirens going and thought, this could be tornado weather.  I would have checked the weather but no TV and for some reason our internet was out during the duration of the storm.  It was a lovely 4 hour down pour though.

We had some thunder showers here on Wednesday!  We were even further north, on holiday in the wilds of Northumberland.  But I understand that there was a thunderstorm here in Leeds too - thank goodness we remembered to unplug all the electronics this time while we were away.  :)

(I don't think it was warm enough for tornadoes to develop though.  Generally, for tornadoes you need warm air on the ground, and much cooler air high up.  It was too cool everywhere.  :P)
