Paris hotel recommendations???
« on: August 28, 2010, 11:13:32 AM »
Sorry if this isn't the right place to post this but.... We're off to Paris for the weekend, in about 2 weeks. Sorta an anniversary trip. Does anyone have any recommendations? Whenever I've stayed in Paris before, I've gone for weeks at a time and rented apartments - but thats not really an option this time. I like Arrondisments 1-8. Any hints much appreciated.

I have stayed here a couple of times:

I recommended it to a friend visiting from the US and she stayed there last month and was very happy.

We've stayed here:  http://www.hotel-collegedefrance.com/index.html

5 minute walk from Notre Dame & the Seine!  :)
Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

Or you could opt for apartment hotels:

Hope you find something you like!

FWIW, we stayed at the Holiday Inn Montmartre, which I believe is in the 18th Arrondissment.  It's about a 6-7 minute walk from Place d'Clichy and about 10 minutes from the Moulin Rouge.  Very reasonable price and a fantastic inclusive breakfast.

Hotel Mercure Stendhal Paris - in the 1st arrondisement near the Opera.  A lot of character, well priced - very friendly.  Just don't stay for the rip off breakfast, eat at one of the many nice cafes on the street.
