starting the process with loads of unknowns
« on: June 30, 2010, 11:08:09 AM »
Ok I am a US born  citizen currently living in Greece (last 10 years) and in the process to move to the UK (oh my 4 year old daughter is Greek American). My Name is Khrystine

I know that the move wont be for about another year/.year half (i am working on my Greek Natualization papers now (EU citizen) which i am eligible as I have been married for over 5 years to my Husband (now separated).  I know lots of drama.

I have been thinking alot about staying in Greece, moving back to the US or moving to the UK.  I have always loved England and it was where i was originally intending to settle when i first came to Greece to right after University.  But I got lost along the way.  Now I am trying to get back on track.

Sooo, i have lots of questions and i have the time to get as much as possible together so lets start with my most important

My daughter.  She will be with me. the divorce will not be final for 4 years (Greek legal system) so until the divorce is final she will be with me, what would I need, legal authorization?  What papers would I need to have ahead of time with me (translated of course) for my daughter?  She speaks English and Greek (more Greek but understands English as i speak only this to her) What could I do to make the transition easier for her.

Living .  Trying to figure out a basic idea if you rent (water, electric, telephone/internet, cable, etc) what utilities are needed.  I have seen the sites mentioned, just wanting the basic nothing extrav for the first year.  Unfurnished flats are with refrigerators and stoves or not.  Is there a good place for  me to check internationally for the types of flats and basic prices.  (areas i am thinking is Wimbledon, Carshalton, Stains, (South West area)) for the moment.

There are lots more, any more info would be helpful as I am collecting the necessary documentation and items so that closer to the time I can concentrate on the other things.  I also have been reading the forum and really appreciated the information on jobs and CV.  Still very nervous about this part as i am 40 years old and afraid that I will have difficulty finding work.

Well I would love any comments and words of advise, as I am doing this with my daughter in tow not like before when it was just me.
