A Family Permit vs. Residence Card ?
« on: July 11, 2010, 05:12:02 PM »
Hello,

I am an American citizen who recently received a UK Family Permit. My spouse is EU national who will be studying in the UK. Will prospective employers recognize the Family Permit as a valid document authorizing my right to work in the UK? If so, are there any compelling reasons to apply for a residence card?

Thank you!

Your FP gives you the right to work. However, it is only valid for 6 months and if you intend on staying longer than those 6 months you will need to apply for the EEA 2 Residence Permit (that is valid for 5 years) before the FP expires.
