My Substitute for Flavored Liquid Creamer
« on: July 15, 2010, 10:11:16 AM »
I know there are some of us always on the look out for these, and wary of trying the recipes we find online so here are my findings. After over 2 years here in Scotland, and many failed attempts at various recipes I have found some that work (at least for me).

http://www.associatedcontent.com/article/435431/make_your_own_flavored_liquid_coffee.html?cat=22

Instead of using the skim milk I usually use single cream tho, as I like my coffee creamy(basically milk and sugar with coffee for color :P) You can also use evaporated milk instead of condensed if you don't want the sugar, but I think that affects the taste since coffee mate always has that sweet taste to me.

I have tried the
-French Vanilla,(added some Cinnamon for the Cinn Van Creme)
-Chocolate Almond(Hershey's syrup instead of cocoa powder & added some coconut milk to make it like an Almond Joy  ;D)
-Choc Truffle Mint(Hershey's Syrup instead of cocoa powder & more mint because I like mine minty)

And have made my own recipes, based off ones I used to get back in the states
Base + Hazelnut
Base + Toffee Nut (caramel and hazelnut)
Base + Coconut Creme (coconut creme and vanilla)
Base + Pumpkin Spice seasoning
base is the condensed milk, skim milk combo

Hope that helps anyone craving the liquid creamers. As always, these are to taste, so tweek it until it is more to your liking.
*I do add sugar to my coffee before adding the creamer, as this doesn't make it sweet enough for me, but as I said I like it sweet and creamy* Enjoy!

Oh, also, if you like flavoring but not milk just make a simple syrup and add flavoring (basically what they use at Starbucks and such to flavor things)

2 cups sugar
1 cup water
flavor to taste (I do the same as I would do for the coffee creamer)

-bring water and sugar to a boil, stir until sugar is dissolved and water is clear

-remove from heat and add flavor extract immediately, this helpsl burn off the alcohol in the extract, but still keep the flavor

-let cool, and then put in a storage container, I use a couple squirts of syrup for a normal coffee cup size, add or decrease to your own taste, you can also double this recipe to make more on hand(I use the container from the ONE bottle I was willing to pay Starbucks for, and the pump makes it easier to use)

Y'all are welcome  ;)

Thanks for the syrup tip! I'm going to make my vanilla syrup this afternoon!  ;D
I have 4 diff flavors sitting on my counter right now. They last longer than the creamers do so I always have them on hand when I run out it, plus these work really well for iced coffee, which I use lactofree milk in instead of reg milk.

I would too, but noticed I was using waaay more Bailey's than was necessary. Tho I did find this Bailey's cream, which I still use occasionally...am guessing it is better to use than reg Bailey's since I am preggo again  ::)
