Hello everyone!
« on: July 18, 2010, 11:13:23 PM »
My name is Lelia, and I am from the US

my fiance, Daniel, is UK.

We have been in a very intense and loving relationship since august of 2008.

its been hard trying to be together
and after a few setbacks and rough lessons learned

we are finally on the last leg of the journey.

At the moment I am in the states
he is working on a lighthouse/bouy repair boat in England as a steward
trying to raise enough funds to bring me over.

He is taking a week off in August to go home (he is on the ocean for weeks at a time)and get all of his information together to send home to me.

However, we are new at this
we dont want anymore setbacks

and we have some questions we cant seem to get answered.

First of all
Im a divorced mother of two.  my children will stay behind with their father for the first year while daniel and I make a home, then they are coming over.
I pay child support to the father as he and I are quite amicable and help each other out for the good of the children. I have no arearage in child support or any reason to have my passport seized-i have a clean record.  However, my FIRST question is this:

I have to put that I have two children on the uk fiance visa
and the questions involved want to know who they are staying with and how they are cared for.   Do i need to set up some sort of child support arrangement before I go overseas?  I would never turn my back on my children, and I want to make sure that both countries know i haven't abandoned them, and i plan to take care of them whether they are here or there.  I plan to pay 6 months ahead in child support to my ex here in the states for the 6 months that I cant work.  i am concerned that they will see that I have two children, and want to know why on earth they are not coming with me right away. I just dont want to get into trouble.

question 2:  proof of funds.   i have none.  i just had a temporary job and now there isno work.  Im looking for work.  However, my fiance plans to take care of everything, including air fare and visa costs. He makes a very good living and this will be no problem for him.     So, my question is, when they ask for proof of employment and income
are they asking for HIS, or MINE? is it going to go against me that i do not work or have funds?  his bank statements will prove what he makes-is this section solely for his information when I get it? because they ask for a reason why, if I cant pay for things myself, does my fiance plan to pay for it? I need clarification on this.

question 3.   accomodation.

Daniel's mum and grandma have a HUGE flat. 5 bedrooms, 3 people living there.  All of hsi mail goes there, his bank statement is for there, etc.  however, he is NOT on the lease.

his MUM and grandma however, are. Cant they just write a letter for us to send in with our hardcopy to the consulate stating its ok for us to stay with them until we get our own place (which would be when he returns from sea in early november-i plan to go on and go over there in september if i get my visa right away and just wait until he gets back from sea)-wont a letter from his mum and nana be ok enough? or does he have to scramble and get us an apartment right away when he comes home for his week break at the end of August?

question 4.  he had a brush with Border Patrol last year coming to see me here in theUS. We were GROSSLY misinformed when he came to visit me early last year, and INS told us he could marry me on a visa waiver and adjust our status. he went back to the UK, and upon advice we were given he returned to do just that-well he was red flagged at the port of entry in Philadelphia with having too many bags and then was harshly interrogated andmade to go back home not to return again unless on a visa. So his passport is marred for life in that respect.  I have to submit his passport when I turn in all of this information--will that incident go against ME  coming to the UK?
I have NO marks against me-nothing at all.    I dont even have a parking ticket.

question 5.  How in the world to  I show proof of intent to marry-when I dont evenknow if i am getting a fiance visa yet?   it says in so many places that I have to provide proof that we have selected a date and place for the ceremony.  Well thats all fine and we PLAN to get married the second he is back from sea-its what we are longing for--but how in the world do I set up a wedding party when i dont even know if im going to be approved for a fiance visa?    What kind of proof will they need?

should his mum put an ad in the local paper in the UK of our engagement and just select a wedding date?

I hope I got all the information on here and all my questions I needed to ask.  My nerves are shot.  Im trying desparately to get all of this done 4000 miles away and wait til he gets back to his home to get me all of the information.

I do look forward to hearing from all of you!

cheers!
Lelia
