Traveling with a Pet Passport ?
« on: September 12, 2010, 12:18:41 PM »
After successfully taking my dog from USA to UK.
She's is doing well and now she have a pet passport!

My question is,

The vet I took her to, told me just as long as her rabies vaccination is up to date, her pet passport won't expire.  Is this true?

Have any of you travel with your dog out of UK?

France, Spain, Italy and ??

In the future I would like to take my dog to those places but I really don't know the rules, require vaccination, what's the process like and how to get into the country ( airlines, ship, car ) and back to UK without a problem.
=)

My vet said that the passport doesn't expire as long as it gets stamped every time the rabies is redone (and, obviously, there's no lapse in rabies vaccine coverage).

I don't know about the rules for traveling, but my vet said that the tick/tapeworm part of the PETS process will still need to be done upon leaving and re-entering the UK. So if you take your dog to France for the weekend (Fri-Sun), you have to do the tick/tapeworm Wed/Thurs and again Fri/Sat in order to travel within the rules.
