I know this might not be of a lot of help right now as you want a job ASAP but the BBC is moving to Manchester throughout next year and are taking cv's at the moment. Since you have the legal right to work in the UK (I guess I read somewhere else you have dual citizenship), it wouldn't hurt to apply from the US as the process is quite long and interviews won't start till the end of the year or next one.
