Blood Test Results
« on: August 10, 2010, 07:25:20 PM »
I had some blood tests done about a week ago.  I called to get my results and they said they were ok.  Then, I got a call today to say they wanted to go over them with me.  This was the secretary.  I'm freaking out as the surgery is closed and I don't know if they would call to say they were ok or would they only call to say if there were a problem.

Any thoughts?

Don't be too concerned NY.  I worked at a doctor's office years back and we would call the patient to tell him/her it was clear or if they needed a follow up or what have you.  Sometimes though, a patient would call us and get someone and we were not told so we would call them out of the blue only to found out they had called themselves.  And, again, sometimes it was simply a "all looks good but doc would like you to follow up in (insert date here)".  Perhaps they were just calling to reschedule a check up in the future or something as simple as that.

As someone who has had REALLY bad blood results from a GP in the past, believe me when I say that if they're really bad, the GP will ring you on your mobile. In a panic. Telling you to go immediately to the ER. Several days before your results were even supposed to be in.

Exhale, it'll be okay.  :)

Hi all,

I got the results and they want to re-test my levels of Vitamin B12 and iron.  I don't know if my levels were high or low of either, so I have a call into my GP about it tomorrow.  She couldn't talk to  me today, which was very frustrating.  I just wanted to know what the results showed, not just that they wanted to re-test.

I tend to be a bit of a worrier, I know.  I just hate the unknown...  My next test is on Monday morning, but I suspect it will be another 10 days before  those results come in.

Thanks for all your posts! :)
