Just arrived and kiddo is already sick...
« on: August 20, 2010, 11:10:56 AM »
So we arrived earlier this week on our Tier 2 visas. My 2 year old son picked up some sort of virus right before we left (literally on the morning of our flight) and has been lethargic and fussy ever since. He is refusing food and only wants to drink liquids. So, I'm about to find a doctor to take him to.

Since we've still be sorting out all the other details with our move these past couple of days, and we're staying in a short term flat so we have NO utility bills in our name at all, will we have any luck registering with a GP? (I'll admit to being a bit frightened of some of the "dragon lady" gp receptionist stories I've read on this board...but I've got a sick child)

Just to clarify---we don't need an NHS number to register with a gp, correct? Just our passports with a validated entry clearance page?

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That's how the light gets in...

Welcome to Norwich! There's a walk-in centre at Castle Mall in the centre of town.

You possibly don't even need your passport. When DW went to register at a GP they didn't bother looking at it, just took her details and registered her.

Thanks! It looks like he has coxsackie/hand-foot-mouth disease. It's no wonder he's been so miserable. Uuugh. What a week for this to happen :(((
