Vonage question
« on: November 11, 2010, 05:11:23 PM »
Not sure if this is the right forum for it but here goes..

DH will likely travel by year-end to UK with kids and I following in the summer.  Most of our calls are US, UK and India..

I am trying to compare getting a vonage phone in the US and adding a virtual UK number vs. DH getting a vonage in the UK when he is there and adding in a US virtual number once we move.  Did not get a good feel with all the plans, etc. from Vonage website.

Anyone using it in UK - experience ? issues?  what would you recommend?

Thank you so much,

Kajal

We had Vonage in the US and it worked fine. Sometimes you get an echo or delay which can be annoying.

When we moved to the UK our only option for internet was via a BT phone line, so we had to get a UK number that way. However we brought our Vonage box with us and it works just the same as it did in the US. Specifically we have two phones - one for the UK with BT and one for Vonage that gets us calls to the US and 60 countries for a flat rate. Even caller ID works. Calls to our old city - Tucson - are local calls, just like before.

The benefit of this is that all my wife's friends and relatives in the US can make a local call to reach us, instead of an international call.

HTH, Andy

Thank you.  That definitely helps.  I was wondering about needing the UK line anyway and was thinking that I may get UK vonage + US virtual number.  But this seems more straightforward.

Thank you,

Kajal
