Hello everybody :] I'm from Michigan and my boyfriend met when we were 16 on family vacations. Well we're both 21 now, and while we kept in contact after we've met, we've been in this long distance relationship for a year and a half now. He's recently just spent three months with me this summer, actually just left Sunday, anyway we decided the next thing we should do is get married next summer after I get my associates and I can move home with him a couple months after.
Now, with everything I've read it looks like the easiest and most financially responsible way to go about it would be to marry in the US and then apply for a spouse visa. That way, once I have the visa I can work over there instead of living on a fiancee visa without any income on my part. Is this really the easiest approach? or could it go wrong?
Also, would it matter if we lived with his parents for a couple months until we have enough saved for our own place? or will our chances of getting a visa be better if we had our own place lined up?
And what is everyone's experience with how much money is necessary to show that he can support us?
Thank you everyone!
