in the traditional hot and cold fashion, my son's father has decided to give consent again. i've spoken to his wife and i believe she fought with him about it, but it was enough to push him to find a reasonable medium. he's asking for a 3 week per year visitation contract, which i don't have any problems with, but he wants it filed in the courts. he says the stipulation doesn't mention anything about sole, joint, or shared custody, just visitation. i've given him simple conditions to follow with the allowance of visitation and he's agreed without any conditions of his own. save for one.. he wants it filed in the courts.
i don't have any experience with this sort of thing. he says this is for reassurance that i'll keep my word when it comes to visits. i've never denied him any kind of access to our son before, no matter how much we didn't get along. i've tried looking more into pennsylvania family law and everything i've come across has to deal with custody. i'm worried that if i don't file it, he'll change his mind about everything again.
so, do i have to file a visitation agreement in the courts if he's not asking for any kind of custody? is he, basically, giving me sole custody if he's only asking for visitation?
