Spousal naturalistion and residency
« on: October 26, 2010, 09:21:48 PM »
Hi

I'm wondering if there are circumstances in which it's allowed for a foreign spouse to naturalise even if she and her UK husband are living outside the UK. Maybe it sounds like a wacky idea, but on one level it makes sense to me.

thanks

If the spouse is in the military or foreign service.  I don' think we have anyone here who has done it.

Other than the ones that bookgrl mentioned -- no there's not.

As there is the 3 year residence requriement, absence limit (270 days with no more than 90 days in the 12 months before application) and you have to be in the UK in order to apply.

The full details for requirements to Naturalise as the Spouse of a British Citizen (including exceptions to the residence requirement) can be found here.
