Finding therapy/counseling as a visitor
« on: September 25, 2010, 07:45:52 PM »
Hello,

I've been in the UK for three months, visiting my boyfriend. While here, I've noticed that my bipolar (in the form of depression) has gotten very bad, to the point where I believe I need to find a therapist and counselor for the rest of my time here. However, I'm not sure what treatment I can get, how to sign up for it, and how payment for it would work. Does anybody have any advice? Would it be more worth my while to cut my visit short and return back to the States?

Thank you!

http://www.counselling-directory.org.uk/

That's a good directory of private counsellors and psychotherapists, you'll want to find one that's registered with BACP or UKCP. Expect to pay between £30-50 per session.

I don't have any answer for you, just wanted to say good for you for recognizing that you need some support and seeking it out. Good luck!

Whole new world for a Southern gardener, but I'm very happy.
