New Jersey to England in 2011
« on: October 07, 2010, 12:41:49 AM »
Hello, everyone. My name is Cooper. I plan on moving to England next year. I'm considering the marriage visa at this time, unless there's something better. I'm in search of the unknown. I'm looking for any information that you know from experience, that would help an old newbie like myself. Any help with taxes, visas, jobs or a great place to buy some American goods (if panic sets in). I've been to England several times now in the past 3 years and my girlfriend has come to America as well. Thank you for reading my post and I look forward to more correspondence with my fellow expats.

Welcome to UKY.  If you have any visa questions, ask away in the Visa section.  Loads of knowledgeable folks are around who can probably help out.  :)

Hello and welcome...
What part of Jersey are you in? My parents live in Monmouth County.
You will find lots of hints about American food-- it tends to be a running theme :-) What part of England will you be moving too?

Hi and welcome! Another from Jersey here, though I'm from the boonies where there are no exit numbers!  ;) Went to Rutgers though!

Welcome

My wife is from NJ - Gloucester County, I'm sorry, I don't know which exit on the turnpike that is!  ;D

Where in the UK would you be moving to?

Hey there! I'm from PA so not that far from you.

I just discovered this forum recently, it is full of hints and tips, wish I had found it before I came here!

Hey,
I'm from North Jersey too!  I still own my own home in Hawthorne.
As for jobs (assuming you have the visa already), monster.co.uk is actually better than its American equivalent, in my opinions.  Also, secsinthecity.co.uk  is great for temporary office jobs until you find your permanent job.

Good luck!

Just saw this thread :)  thought I'd add that I'm also a jersey girl, born and raised...But I'm from south jersey, where we don't do the whole exit number thing ;) Grew up in Camden County, (which is just north of Gloucester Co, TykeMan)
