Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I'm a lawyer in LA who (drumroll...) met a boy in London in 2009. We tentatively have plans for me to obtain a Tier 1 Visa and move to London sometime in 2011.  I'm still quite on the fence about quitting my job and sort of putting my life in someone's hands financially, but on the whole I think London would be very exciting. 

Oh yeah I also have to rent out my house before I can move... :(

If there are any other lawyers out there thinking of making the big move and wondering "how the hell am I going to get a job over there" I'd love to hear from you!

Not a lawyer..but want to say welcome! It is a scary adventure but can be a fun and rewarding one!

Ditto HG.  Have you considered looking for US firms with offices in London?  ReedSmith is a US firm with London offices.  Hope all goes well for you.

Hi Kim. Not a lawyer, but here in So Cal (so bay),  also migrating over next year and also wondering about the job situation. Moving from corporate America to non-corporate Nottingham should be interesting. I agree with the folks above. My attorney brother also  seems to think there should be firms that would want practicing Americans.

Wanted to say Hi!  I lived in OC (Orange, HB, Costa Mesa) and LA (Silverlake) for six years before moving back home to NY for 2 years and now live in the West Midlands.

No experience as a lawyer, even though I do like to argue.  :P
