Hello all,
I've been doing loads of research on applying for the UK settlement visa (spouse) and we are quite confident in our application overall at this point except for two things.
1) The convictions including traffic offenses question. Surely yes, it is best to be transparent and honest. If I do say yes though I'm not sure what to say.
I'm from Connecticut and this traffic offense would no longer be on my record. I was in an accident 4 years ago and cannot remember for the life of me what happened. It was traumatic, my car rolled over after a collision with a trucker and that's all I remember. I think I got some sort of ticket or whatever, not sure. This happened 2 weeks before I left the country for work. And since then I've moved 2x, one time to yet another country.
I seriously cannot remember if I paid a fine or just got some written thing or whatever. Would I put down: "Yes, well maybe, I think i got a ticket from an accident"
Let's be honest it makes me sound really flaky! I didn't really care at the time because I had bigger worries and everything minor comes off in 3 years where I'm from. So getting a copy of my driving history won't do much good now will it?
2) I was informed by the police back home that someone used my social security number and committed check fraud to buy a car! Not sure if he's anything else with it.

I contacted the FBI and was told that only stuff in connection to my fingerprints would come up. So for me that would pointless. Is there another way to find out if my identity has been connected to some other crimes or whatnot? I have no idea where he would have done stuff so local checks are out of the question.
Is there another type of criminal record? How do you get it? (Not FBI one)
Any help or advice?
