Hello from Indonesia (UK fiance visa refused)
« on: November 04, 2010, 09:50:06 PM »
Hi, I am newbie girl from Indonesia... :)

I know this website is UK-US website but I couldnt find Indonesia-UK website that discuss about UK visa issue (really tempted to make one but I dont have enough knowledge about the law etc so here I am doing research and asking lots questions). I hope you dont mind  :P

I applied UK fiance settlement visa couple months ago. My sponsor is British.
Both of us above 21 years old, no gap over 25 years.
We made the application as good as we can, provided pictures of both of us, hotel receipts, boarding pass, P-60, his working contract, his 6 months sallary slips, his 6 months bank statement, his house deed, all ID(both passports), even letter from my company (in Indonesia) and my uni (I know they dont need it but I gave it hoping that they can see me as someone that dont want to ask public fund and capable to work when I got the permit)

And....I got refused!!

The reason is.....they think I will ask for public fund....because....his bank statement, his income almost same with outcome and touch the limit. He has a nice house, no mortage, same job for 2 years..okay it part time job because he is studying but he has around 1000GBP income/month.

It was really hard for both of us. Since we had been in LDR and we have to stayed in our jobs so be able to meet the visa requirements even tho we dont like it. And everybody was so pesimistic about us.

The positive things about it are the process was so quick untill we went angry think that they only had quick look at our application. Summited Friday, they decided on Monday, got notification on Tuesday. And it makes people realises that we do love each other and we will fight for it. Everybody support us more since then.

Then, he decided to stay in my country for a while, getting married here   [smiley=badlove.gif] (yippieeee!!)and appy for spouse visa letter. We just got married couple weeks ago.

The idea is we both experience both country then decide where to live.

The other problem occur. He needs visa.

And we have to do research and study the Indonesian law now. He here on visa on arrival (30 days)now, have to go to other country to extend and renew in this case singapore untill we can get the other visa.
Its stressfull in different way....

So here I am cant sleep tonight...its 5 am already!!
I am sorry, maybe I just want to share it with people who have same experience, face same thing, understand.
This visa thing is sooo get me...! [smiley=bigcry.gif]

We always gratefull that we have each other now in same house, in same country, and we legally married so we feel stronger. and we can plan our next step.

I really wish that all of your application went well.

Warm greeting from Indonesia

Halo Ranig! Apa kabar?

I'm half Indonesian, my mother married my father in the 70s though, he was an Irish National but they're both settled in the UK :)

I'm sure other people will help you with your visa stuff, I'm no expert but wanted to say hello :)

Posting the exact words of the refusal will help people here work out why you were refused and what you should do next time.

I'm not sure as I'm a dual national but I think he can extend the 30 day visa he got on arrival by getting a visa extension for another 30 days. That would be better than him leaving for singapore and trying to get back in (where he could be refused) http://www.indonesiamatters.com/8193/tourist-visa/

You'll need to look here -http://www.imigrasi.go.id/
I totally can't read enough indonesian to look for you!

Good luck!

Hi, I am newbie girl from Indonesia... :)

Hi sweetie, you'll find lots of sympathy and positive vibes for your issues, but please take to heart that the forum's depth is solely in the fast-track world, and we're very thin on how the awkward consulates actually work.

Having said that, welcome and keep us informed...   ;)

Hi Ranig,

I can't be much help, but I gotta say, I adore Indonesia.  The food is wonderful, the people friendly, it's just an all around fabulous place.

I do know (as someone who has done it) that getting a tourist visa for Indonesia isn't hard.  (By hard I mean selling your soul and first born to get into Russia.)  I just did mine at the boarder and got 30 days, however if you do them in advance, say from KL or from Singapore, someone on an American, British or EU passport can get 60 -  90 days. This is also continuously renewable.  I met a retired Dutch man who just left every 90 days and got a new visa in his passport and then rejoined his wife and kids.

Of course this visa wouldn't allow your hubby to work.  I did, however, meet a huge amount of western expats, and they all told me that it was some work, but they never worried about being refused.   I was so in love with the country I started to look into it a bit, but never got very far.

I wish you two the best of luck.
