married! now whats the next step?
« on: November 08, 2010, 12:14:55 AM »
my fiance arrived in the usa on oct 20th and we married the 28th. and now after a short rest from responsibility our worries have begun. so what is the next step? she leaves dec 1st to go back to the uk but is there anything we can/should be doing now? whats a logical 1st step? i know these questions are asked and answered here every week but now its me asking and it seems everything i think ive learned has gone out the window.

also, i spent last december in the uk, then from march 3rd to september 1st there. getting thru immigration for that 6 month stay was rough! is there any hope of me trying to accompany her back december 1st or come for christmas? i dont want to be denied of course and i think maybe ive stayed my limit for the year.

thanks in advance for any answers!

There is no 'limit' to time you can spend in the UK. But there is the general rule of no more than 6 months in a 12 month rolling period. I can't see why if you plan a short trip (2 weeks or so) for the holidays that you couldn't visit for Christmas.

Next step? That depends on where you want to live the UK or the US.

But realistically you do have time to apply for a spouse visa and return to the UK to live permanently if that is what your goal is.
